I was just grocery shopping when “Daughters” by John Mayer came on, and I am newly enraged that people only seem to talk about misogyny in music when it has to do with rap lyrics.
And there is misogyny in some rap lyrics, and that’s of course a totally legitimate thing to talk about, but seriously, the message of “Daughters,” as far as I can tell, is “Parents, don’t mess up your daughters, because that’s going to make it harder for John Mayer to have sex with them when they get older.”
And this shit gets played in grocery stores.

Probably just because people don’t like phat beats. That’s the only reason I can think of.
